Two, including 11-month-old child electrocuted in Thoothukudi

In the first incident, the 25-year-old man was electrocuted during a funeral while attempting to connect the power cord of a freezer box in Thoothukudi on Tuesday. In another incident, an 11-month-old child died of electrocution due to electricity leakage from a motor while playing at his grandmother’s house near Theerthakarai Pillaiyar Temple in Thoothukudi on Monday.

The victim was identified as Magilan, son of Prabhakaran and Bastina.

The victim, Muthu Sasi, is a resident of Sembur village near Alwarthirunagari in Thoothukudi district, according to police sources. Sasi went to attend the funeral of his relative Mariammal in the same locality. When Sasi attempted to connect the power cord of the freezer box, he suffered electrocution. He was immediately rushed to the Srivaikuntam government hospital. However, the doctors declared him brought dead. Alwarthirunagari police registered a case.
