Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao demanded that chief minister Revanth Reddy allocate 550 acres of Miyapur lands to Telangana movement activists and martyrs.
The BRS leader said Revanth Reddy himself had promised in the Congress election manifesto that Telangana movement activists would be allotted 250 square yards of land. Speaking at a meeting where Congress workers from Serilingampally assembly constituency, including a senior leader from Hydernagar, Damodar Reddy, joined the BRS on Wednesday, KTR questioned the logic behind the govt’s move to establish a colony for Telangana martyrs’ families in Erravelli, as it is located about 70 km from the city. Because former CM K Chandrashekar Rao resides in Erravelli and the village has become a focal point of Telangana politics, he alleged that the decision was politically motivated.
“If land has now become available in Miyapur, and if you are sincere, will you allocate plots to all those who worked for the Telangana movement?” he asked. We will wholeheartedly support it,” he said. Warning industrialists against participating in what he described as the “HILT Policy scam,” KTR claimed that any future BRS govt would review such land transactions.
“Construct excellent houses for the martyrs in Miyapur. He asserted that a future BRS administration would put a stop to what he called questionable land dealings undertaken by the present govt.
He said that if 550 acres become available, portions of the land should be reserved for the poor, Telangana martyrs, and movement activists, while the remaining area could be utilised for public institutions such as schools and colleges. KTR also criticised the govt’s reported plans to monetise the Miyapur lands.
