Hyderabad : Health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha has directed officials to expedite the construction of the Medak govt medical college, nursing college and hostel buildings, and ensure that the facilities are made available to students within a year.
During a review meeting at the Telangana Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TGMSIDC) office in Koti, officials informed the minister that the Sangareddy nursing college building, constructed at a cost of around ₹40 crore, was ready for inauguration. Construction of the Medak medical college, nursing college and hostel buildings, being undertaken at an estimated cost of ₹156 crore, is underway. The minister also noted that the Medak general hospital is currently functioning from an old building and said new hospital buildings would be sanctioned soon. The minister asked them to make the necessary arrangements to commence classes immediately. The minister directed officials to expedite the work and ensure that all the buildings are completed within a year. In the meantime, he instructed health secretary Dr Christina Z Chongthu and director of medical education (DME) Dr Vani to provide essential facilities for students in rented premises.
