Hyderabad: Asset-light pharma player HRV Pharma is investing ₹150 crore to expand its presence in synthetic peptides and high-potency oncology active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) as part of efforts to strengthen its position in complex, supply-constrained drug segments while retaining its asset-light model.

The Hyderabad-based company on Monday said it will participate in a ₹40-50 crore dedicated custom peptide capacity programme as part of which it will secure dedicated manufacturing capacity at a partner facility, which is being scaled up under current good manufacturing practice standards and is expected to be ready in six to eight months. The Hyderabad-based company is also forming a strategic joint venture for high-potency oncology APIs and specialised molecules, with an investment commitment of nearly ₹100 crore. Founded in 2016, HRV Pharma claims to be India’s first virtual pharma company that operates through proprietary API drug master files, co-owned finished dosage forms and a network of more than 50 US FDA- and EU-GMP-certified manufacturing partners. It sells in over 55 countries and serves over 150 corporations worldwide globally.

HRV Pharma’s founder, managing director and CEO Hari Kiran Chereddi said the investments would help secure critical capacities in peptides and high-potency APIs while preserving the flexibility and capital efficiency of HRV’s operating model.
