Hyderabad: Dedicated PC and console game publisher 1312 Interactive has raised $1 million (close to Rs 10 crore) in a seed funding round led by T-Accelerate Capital and Chimera Venture Capital, with participation from Ventana Ventures, Rahul Reddy G, Rohan MC and Darini Srinivas. The Hyderabad-based game publisher said the funding has been raised to expand its indie and AA game publishing business across emerging markets as well as to launch its developer community initiative called 1312 Playground. Founded by gaming industry veterans Deepak Gurijala and Raviteja Mantena, 1312 Interactive works with studios to take culturally distinct games to global audiences. Deepak Gurijala, co-founder, 1312 Interactive, termed the funding a strong vote of confidence in its vision to build a global publishing platform rooted in emerging markets. With this round, we’re doubling down on our mission to close that gap, and to give developers the production, marketing, and community support they need to compete on the world stage. ” Raviteja Mantena, co-founder, 1312 Interactive: Its 1312 Playground will connect developers with players earlier in production, providing testing, feedback and audience insights before launch and is aimed at helping studios shape games with input from engaged communities rather than waiting until after release. T-Accelerate Capital founding partner Carol Wong said 1312 is building the piece India’s gaming ecosystem has been missing — real PC/console publishing infrastructure that can carry culturally distinct titles to a global audience.

The company said the capital will support production, marketing, distribution, platform partnerships, quality assurance and localisation for premium PC and console titles from India and other emerging game development hubs. It said it plans to support six to eight additional titles each year. Krish Anurag, managing and founding partner, Chimera Venture Capital, said the Hyderabad-based game publisher stood out as it understands what it takes to get a game from a studio’s vision to a global storefront. “Emerging markets are producing some of the most creative game development talent in the world, and 1312 Interactive is building the infrastructure to bring that talent to the players who are waiting for it,” he said.
Its debut slate includes Winds of Arcana by Brewed Games, Palm Sugar: A Village Story by Mono Tusk Studios, Souls of Bombarika by Street Lamp Games, We Are So Cooked by Dwarven Brothers and Misadventures of Space Man Biff by Prescription Studios. Download the TOI App.
