Hyderabad : Meerpet police have arrested a 42-year-old businessman for allegedly committing a double murder at his in-laws’ house in Badangpet over marital disputes.

A case was registered against Siddiqui on Wednesday under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS. The accused, Mohammed Siddiqui, a businessman from Bandlaguda, had been going through a strained marital relationship. His wife had recently filed a domestic harassment complaint with the police. She had been staying at her parents’ house in Badangpet along with their three children. Meerpet police had summoned the couple and advised them to attend a counselling session to resolve their domestic issues. In his complaint to the police, Reshma’s cousin, Md Ahmed Khan, alleged that Siddiqui had harassed a female family member.

Before appearing for the counselling session, Siddiqui contacted his brother-in-law, Yusuf, and went to his in-laws’ house in Badangpet on Wednesday evening on the pretext of discussing family matters. Police arrested him in Bandlaguda on Thursday and seized a knife, a car and a mobile phone from his possession. He was remanded to judicial custody on Friday.

Shamshabad DCP Rajesh said Siddiqui bore a grudge against the victims due to marital discord and other family disputes that had persisted for about six years, and targeted them following the recent domestic harassment complaint.
