Hyderabad: Telangana’s famed Tandur Red Gram, which became the first agricultural product from Telangana to get the Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2022, is now all set to get traceability as Telangana govt moves to protect the GI-tagged product’s identity, prevent counterfeit sales and help farmers earn higher market value for their produce.
The company said it has received the notification of award under the NeGPA 2025-26 scheme. Also known as Tandur Toor Dal, the product received a GI tag in Dec 2022. The GI, registered as No 706, is held by Yalal Farmers Producers Company Ltd, which applied with support from Prof Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University.
The Telangana agriculture department has awarded the project to Hyderabad-based supply-chain traceability and digital public infrastructure company TRST01.
