Hyderabad: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG-SAFE) on Wednesday suspended the licences of nine food and oil establishments in the city and directed them to stop operations immediately.

As many as 10 TG-SAFE teams inspected 20 restaurants, hotels and food manufacturing units in the area.

“We lifted 20 food samples on suspicion of adulteration and discarded spoiled vegetables, stale meat and pest-infested raw materials found during the inspections at these restaurants,” the official added. Officials will also issue show-cause notices to seven other units following a special food safety drive conducted in LB Nagar and surrounding areas. During the inspections, officials found spoiled or contaminated meat and vegetables, cockroach, housefly and rodent infestations, poor record-keeping, unclean refrigerators, and improper segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. The nine establishments whose licences were suspended include Hotel Sangeeth Grand, Bahar Biryani Cafe, Balaji Pheni and Namkeen, Bhuvaneshwari Oil Industries, Hotel Sindhura East Court, Chemistry Bar and Kitchen (Surabhi Grand), New Limra Hotel, N Village Multicuisine Restaurant and Hotel Kinara Grand. Show-cause notices will be issued to Galaxy Cafe and Restaurant, Antera-Nagole, Hotel Saradhi Grand, Lucky Restaurant-Nagole, Vijaya Raghavendra Hotel, Bhagavati Misthan Bhandar and Joint Al Mandi-Nagole. Further action, including penalties, has been proposed against these establishments.
