Bengaluru hospital — Andhra girl on ventilator support, may require: The wider industry impact

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Bengaluru : The 14-year-old girl Radhika (name changed), with severe injuries to her face and upper body, had suffered significant blood loss and circulatory shock.

She required resuscitation, multiple blood transfusions and ventilator support during the transfer, said Manipal Hospital in a press statement Sunday.

The extensive surgery took nearly 11 hours.

“On arrival, she was critically unstable, with ongoing facial bleeding, and was immediately shifted to the operating room,” the statement said. “Her vital parameters are currently stable, and her condition and organ functions are being closely monitored,” the statement read. The hospital said Radhika remains critically ill and may require further surgical interventions, depending on how her condition progresses. “Our teams are doing everything possible to support her recovery and provide the best possible care,” the statement said.

Anticipating her arrival, the hospital mobilised multidisciplinary teams, including paediatric emergency, paediatric intensive care unit (PICU), surgical specialties, operation theatre (OT) and blood bank, to ensure immediate medical attention. She has now been shifted to the PICU, where she continues to receive ventilator support.
