Hyderabad: Govt whip Vemula Veeresham on Monday questioned the previous BRS govt’s contribution to Adilabad, stating that the Pranahita-Chevella project, if completed, could have provided gravity-based irrigation to nearly two lakh acres in the district.
Veeresham accused BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) of spreading misinformation during his visit to Adilabad and betraying farmers during the party’s 10-year rule. Veeresham claimed that the Congress govt had already spent ₹1.70 lakh crore for farmers’ welfare and was implementing several schemes beyond the Rythu Bandhu assistance provided during the BRS regime. Targeting KTR and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao, Veeresham accused them of constantly spreading allegations against the govt and said the BRS had lost public confidence and would not return to power in Telangana.
On the drought situation and El Niño, Veeresham challenged former chief minister K Chandrasekar Rao to attend the assembly session for a debate, stating that the Congress govt was prepared to discuss the issue. He defended the chief minister’s visits to Delhi, stating that the Congress was a national party and that the chief minister had to travel to the national capital whenever required.
