Lucknow Police Commissionerate organised a training and sensitisation workshop for police personnel on the rights of transgender persons, sensitive policing and provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 at the Reserve Police Lines in Lucknow on Saturday.
Lucknow: The Lucknow Police Commissionerate on Saturday organised a training and sensitisation workshop for police personnel on the rights of transgender persons, sensitive policing and provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 at the Reserve Police Lines. She provided police personnel with detailed information on the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 and the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Rules, 2020. The session was conducted by Devika Devendra S Mangalamukhi, state executive member and adviser, Uttar Pradesh Transgender Welfare Board. During the session, police personnel were sensitised about the need to treat transgender persons with respect, empathy and dignity while dealing with complaints or cases involving members of the community. The participants were also briefed about the legal rights of transgender persons and statutory provisions available for their protection.
