Meerut: A 22-year-old woman bus conductor was killed after a Meerut Roadways bus rammed into a truck carrying crushed stones amid dense fog on the Delhi-Meerut highway early Friday, leaving a passenger injured and several others shaken.
The accident took place around 4am near Walidpur village, when the bus, travelling from Rishikesh to Meerut, crashed into the stationary truck parked along the highway. The conductor, Purva Kumari, a resident of Kasopur village in Shamli, was trapped inside the mangled bus and died on the spot. Police reached the spot after receiving information and sent Purva’s body for postmortem examination. Investigators suspect that dense fog and poor visibility contributed to the accident, with the bus driver, Amarpal, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, allegedly failing to notice the parked truck.
Daurala circle officer Shiv Thakur said, “Vishal is receiving treatment, and all other passengers were safe. No formal complaint has been received yet. We have initiated an investigation in the matter.”
