Bijnor : A leopard entered a farmer’s house in Daulatpur village around 11 pm on Thursday and was spotted drinking water from a bucket. Bijnor divisional forest officer Jai Singh Kushwah said, “More than 80 leopards have been captured in the district so far this year, while around 120 cages have been installed in areas where sightings were common. A family member, Vardhan , captured the animal on his mobile phone, and the photograph was later widely circulated on social media. The family raised an alarm, following which the leopard fled towards nearby fields. No one was injured. The incident took place at the house of farmer Rajpal alias Raje, located close to agricultural fields. Vardhan noticed the leopard inside the house while using his mobile phone and alerted the family. Repeated sightings have left residents fearful, with many reluctant to step out of their homes at night. Villagers have urged the forest department to install cages in the area and capture the animal before anyone is injured. The department is also making villagers aware of safety measures. Kushwah advised residents not to enter forests alone and to move in groups. He also asked them to avoid stepping out alone at night and take special care of children.
