Authorities in Varanasi are set to attach properties valued at Rs 49.91 lakh linked to Mohammed Yasir, a known cattle smuggler. This action is part of a broader initiative to dismantle organized cattle-smuggling operations and disrupt their financial networks. The measures are being implemented under the Gangsters Act, reflecting the government’s intensified efforts to combat illegal cattle trade.
Chandauli SP Akash Patel said the action against Yasir, a resident of Prayagraj, was taken in connection with a case registered under Section 3(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act at Alinagar police station.
Police said Yasir has cases registered under provisions of the Cow Slaughter Prevention Act, the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and IPC sections related to cheating and forgery. Patel said an investigation was underway into Yasir’s cases as part of the ongoing drive to destroy the financial network of organised cattle-smuggling gangs. During the investigation, police found that Yasir had allegedly acquired immovable properties in his name and in the names of other family members using illegally earned money.
The order was issued by Chandauli DM Chandra Mohan Garg on Sunday following a police recommendation.
