Bulandshahr: A 24-year-old constable died after allegedly shooting himself with his service rifle while on duty at Dhaulana police station in Hapur on Sunday morning. The deceased, Ashish Verma , a native of Hirapur village in Agra, had recently returned to the station after 15 days of leave.
Verma joined Uttar Pradesh police in 2025 and was posted at Dhaulana police station in April. ASP Vineet Bhatnagar said a six-page suicide note found in Verma’s pocket suggested he was battling depression and was in debt. However, we are investigating the matter from all angles,” he said. The gunshot caused a commotion among police personnel at the station, who rushed Verma to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead, Bhatnagar said.
