Meerut: A sub-inspector and four constables from Budaun’s Zarif Nagar police station were suspended by SSP Ankita Sharma for misbehaving and allegedly assaulting members of a family during an NDPS raid in the city.

An FIR was earlier registered at Zarif Nagar under SC/ST Act and BNS sections against Anmol and 11 others, along with eight unidentified persons. Due to this FIR, SI Manish Bhardwaj and constables Surjit Singh, Lokesh, Harish and Sandeep went to the house of Uday Prakash , a resident of Deohra Shekhpur village, without informing their SHO or seniors. “Based on the findings, all five personnel have been suspended,” said SSP Budaun. The team brought Uday, his father Kripal Singh and Avnesh to the local police station, where they allegedly misbehaved with them. A preliminary inquiry, conducted by a DSP, into the complaint found the policemen prima facie guilty of misconduct. Further departmental proceedings against them are expected to follow, police added.
