MEERUT: A 24-year-old student of a seminary in Deoband was assaulted by a group of unidentified youngsters after he allegedly refused to consume alcohol while on a Saharanpur-bound passenger train from Meerut Friday night.

Mohd Muntazir said after boarding the passenger train, he noticed the group allegedly consuming liquor. “……they started passing remarks…to avoid them, I changed coaches…at Daurala station, they followed me…and I was…assaulted,” he said.SHO (GRP) Vishal Sengari said”…investigation indicates Muntazir had asked those men not to drink and later took a video…It was after that..he was allegedly assaulted. ..
