Police suspect that the two were murdered and that an attempt was made to portray their deaths as suicide. Prayagraj : A woman and her two-year-old son were found dead under suspicious circumstances at their home in Naya Purwa Lalu Patti village under Sangramgarh police station in neighbouring Pratapgarh on Sunday.
Police received information through the 112 emergency service that the woman and child had allegedly died by hanging, according to SP Deepak Bhukar. Police said Neeta had been married to Suresh for around 12 years.
Her brother, Lavkush Patel, who informed the police, also told investigators that Suresh allegedly used to assault Neeta after consuming alcohol. However, when a police team reached the spot, it found injury marks on the bodies and no evidence supporting the initial account of suicide. Police are examining this allegation as part of the investigation and are also looking into the circumstances leading up to the deaths.
During questioning and a preliminary investigation, police gathered information pointing towards the husband, Suresh Patel, who has been taken into custody for questioning. The bodies of Neeta Patel and her son have been sent for postmortem examination, and the exact cause of death will be established through the report.
