The team destroyed around 200 kg of khoya, estimated to be worth Rs 64,000, and 150 litres of mixed milk valued at approximately Rs 8,250. A mobile food safety squad reached the outer area of Govind Nagar railway station, where around 500 kg of khoya was found packed in dirty sacks and lying by the roadside, exposed to rain.
The khoya had been unloaded from the passenger train and two persons were attempting to load it onto an auto-rickshaw, according to people present at the spot. The first raid was conducted at Paras village in Ghatampur tehsil, where the department team found khoya being prepared and stored in extremely unhygienic conditions. Samples of the khoya, mixed milk and skimmed milk powder were collected and sent to a laboratory for testing. In the second operation, the department acted on information that a large consignment of khoya was being brought to Kanpur by the Etawah-Kanpur Passenger train. However, the two men fled after seeing the food safety officials.
