Agra: Two people were dead and 13 others injured after a truck rammed into a stationary pickup vehicle carrying pilgrims from UP’s Etawah to Rajasthan ’s Gogamedi shrine late on Wednesday night. The accident took place near the Gurau toll plaza in Firozabad district when the pickup, carrying 22 devotees, had stopped before the toll plaza to recharge the account for paying toll.

Earlier on Wednesday, a roadways bus travelling from Firozabad towards Mathura collided with a trailer and overturned, leaving 18 passengers injured. The deceased were yet to be identified, police said. Sirsaganj SHO Anil Kumar said the families of the injured had been informed. “The truck driver fled. Preliminary investigation suggests that he might have dozed off at the wheel,” Kumar added. Emergency teams rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences (UPUMS) in Saifai. Download the TOI App.
