Agra: Two people were killed and two others seriously injured in separate crashes on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura’s Naujheel over the weekend.

On Sunday, Haripal Singh, 40, of Ghaziabad, and Bhim Singh, 38, of Khidana in Baghpat, were changing a burst tyre of their truck when a mini truck rammed them from behind. Hours earlier, late Saturday night, two men on a motorcycle were seriously injured after crashing into a truck that had stopped near milestone 63 on the Agra-to-Noida carriageway due to a gearbox problem. Naujheel SHO Ajneesh Kumar said, “We took them to Naujheel CHC by ambulance, where doctors declared them dead. Investigators said the motorcycle was approaching from behind when it crashed into the stationary truck in the darkness. Their vehicle was travelling from Noida towards Agra. A police response vehicle (PRV) patrolling nearby alerted local police, who reached the spot. The mini truck driver fled with the vehicle and efforts are on to nab him. The injured, identified as Mayadeen and Vardhani, both in their 20s, were taken to Naujheel CHC after a PRV alerted police. The two worked in NCR and were returning to their homes in Mahoba district. Traffic was affected for some time following the crash. Officials used a crane to move the damaged motorcycle and the disabled truck to the side of the road, after which traffic returned to normal.
