Lucknow: Sugarcane farmers will be paid within 24 hours of their produce being procured by sugar mills after Samajwadi Party is voted to form the govt in 2027 Assembly polls, said SP chief and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav talking to the media in Saharanpur on Wednesday.
Akhilesh reached Saharanpur on Wednesday where he was to address a public meeting but the event was cancelled due to rain. Because of the donation theft, lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav onWednesday saidthe newly appointed chief executive officer of the Ram Temple Trust had a major challenge of restoring faith of the people and credibility of the Temple Trust both of which had suffered a blow at the hands of BJP govt.
Akhilesh said he would again visit Saharanpur and address a public during the election campaign. Talking about hike in prices of sugar before the festive season, Akhilesh said this had happened under the BJP govt to benefit ‘big people’ who were close to the powers that be. The SP chief said the hike in prices of sugar should be passed on to farmers as well. “But who is benefitting from ethanol and increase in prices of sugar, no one knows,” he said. Asked to comment on the appointment of the CEO of Ram Temple Trust, Akhilesh said the appointment was a call of the Trust. He said the BJP had dealt a blow to the faith of the people (owing to donation theft). Since people put faith above credibility, it will be a huge responsibility (on the shoulders of the new CEO) to restore people’s faith and credibility, Akhilesh said.
Responding to a media query on reservation, Akhilesh said that reservation would continue to exist. He said while the BJP always spoke in favour of reservation, its “underground partners” were working to end reservation. Targeting the BJP govt over cave-ins on Lucknow-Kanpur and Ganga expressways, Akhilesh said there were reports of flaws in design of the expressway. “Who is responsible for this flaw in design,” he asked. Sometimes they (govt) dry them with fans and sometimes cover them with carpets,” he said.
“There are deep potholes on expressways.
