Gorakhpur : Jagadguru Swami Rajendradass Devacharya Maharaj, who is delivering the week-long Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at Gorakhnath Temple, on Sunday said listening to Bhagwan’s katha had the power to bring welfare to all beings.
“One who becomes addicted to Bhagwan’s katha attains liberation while still alive,” he said. Swami Rajendradass said there were three categories of beings — those bound by worldly attachments, those seeking liberation and those who had attained it. Bhagwan’s katha, he said, could benefit all three. He said even Putana, who approached Krishna with an intention to kill him, was granted liberation.
The sixth-day discourse was organised as part of programmes marking the 57th death anniversary of Mahant Digvijaynath and 12th death anniversary of Mahant Avaidyanath. Gorakshpeethadhishwar and chief minister Yogi Adityanath attended the katha, performed puja at the Vyas Peeth and later offered aarti to the Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran. Narrating the episodes of Lord Ram, Salasar Balaji and Putana, he stressed the importance of developing a good nature along with influence. The discourse concluded with aarti and prasad distribution. Several saints, public representatives and prominent citizens attended the programme.
