Cong observes Modi's b'day as 'unemployment day'

On Thursday, Congress activists in Varanasi commemorated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday by declaring it ‘Unemployment Day’. The protesters voiced their concerns over pressing issues such as unemployment, inflation, rising fuel prices, educational challenges, and civic problems exacerbated by recent floods. This demonstration underscores the party’s ongoing criticism of the Modi administration’s handling of economic and social issues.

Through its campaign ’25 years of Modi rule—25 questions’, the party raised the issues of demonetisation , GST implementation, Covid lockdown, farm laws, Pegasus, electoral funding, Manipur violence, CAA-NRC, Article 370, media freedom, unemployment, privatisation and institutional autonomy. Because of unemployment, rising prices, lack of public services and unresolved civic problems in Kashi, city Congress president Raghvendra Choubey said people were suffering. He accused the govt of diverting attention from public concerns and said Congress would continue raising people’s issues. Party workers gathered at Padmashri Crossing and marched to the statue of B R Ambedkar in Ravindrapuri, raising slogans against the govt. The protest highlighted Varanasi’s sewerage issues and the recent controversy over sacks found in a sewer. Congress workers carried a symbolic sack, garlanded it and questioned how it reached the sewer and why those responsible have not been identified yet.
