Cop on way for VIP duty dies in Ganga E-way accident
Sumit Kumar Saini, in his mid-30s and a resident of Jasoi village in Muzaffarnagar’s Titawi area, was on his way to Noida for VIP duty when the accident took place around 6 pm near Alam Nagar village.
The vehicle went out of control, climbed the divider, crossed onto the opposite lane and hit the railing, according to police. Hapur SP Kunwar Gyananjay Singh said, “The police vehicle met with an accident on Ganga Expressway, in which constable Sumit Kumar sustained serious injuries and later died during treatment. The cause of the accident is being investigated and CCTV footage has been obtained. A police personnel travelling on the expressway noticed the accident, informed local officials and helped arrange medical assistance. Saini was taken to a private hospital in Sadarpur for initial treatment. He was later referred to a higher medical centre in Meerut, where he succumbed to his injuries.
