Bijnor: An inspector and a head constable of CRPF , and a sub-inspector and a constable of UP Police were arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 25-year-old woman at an MLA’s farmhouse in Amroha’s Hasanpur area.
When Pramod subsequently attempted to assault her, she pushed him away, locked herself in a room and called police around 6 am on Tuesday. Amroha SP Lakhan Singh Yadav confirmed that an FIR has been registered under BNS Section 70(1) for gangrape, and all four suspects have been taken into custody. Meanwhile, the MLA defended himself on social media: “I was in Landhora, Khanpur, attending a roadshow and public programme from 6:30 pm to 11 pm on Tuesday, and the evidence of my presence is available on social media.
The woman had travelled from Fatehabad, Haryana, to Amroha after an acquaintance invited her to visit some religious sites, according to her police complaint. The caretaker, Ramniwas, told police that he received multiple calls from an individual named Parvinder, who claimed that SSI Naresh Rana had arranged for officials from the Union home ministry to stay at the property for an inquiry. Ramniwas said SSI Rana also contacted him directly to send the location via WhatsApp.
The men then drove her to Hasanpur, where they met SI Sanjay Tomar, posted at Hasanpur police station. The survivor alleged that after arriving at the farmhouse, constable Pramod brought food and liquor, after which Mohit, Lalaram and Sanjay sexually assaulted her. Tomar and Pramod have been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against them. Disciplinary proceedings for the CRPF personnel have been forwarded to their respective unit headquarters. Police records identify Mohit as a head constable with the CRPF’s 5th Battalion in Delhi, while Lalaram Yadav serves as an inspector with the 156th Battalion stationed in New Bongaigaon, Assam. He added: “If a local thana’s police officer comes with two CRPF personnel, will not the caretaker open the gates? What options does he have? And if the police department turns predator, what can one do?
She met CRPF head constable Mohit Singh in Sonipat on Monday, and the two travelled to Meerut to pick up his senior colleague, CRPF inspector Lalaram Yadav. The survivor was sent for a medical examination on Thursday, and her statement was recorded.
