The worst affected villages are Grant Number 12 and Raudua, where an evacuation operation was initiated to shift victims to safer places. Yaduvir Singh, the water level in Sharda increased from Monday evening due to water released from Banbasa barrage in Uttarakhand, while Ghaghara River descending from Nepal showed a somewhat steady trend, according to SDM of Nighasan. Heavy soil erosion was reported from this area, the officials said.
Pilibhit: Severe overflow from Sharda, Ghaghara and Mohana rivers in Kheri district has inundated over a dozen villages in the Nighasan circle, submerging standing crops, eroding soil and cutting off connectivity from the tehsil headquarters. Major roads are severely waterlogged up to two feet. Relief and rescue operations have been enforced by the district administration to assist affected villagers and mitigate the impact of the floodwaters. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as water levels continue to pose a threat to the region.
Devendra Mani Tripathi, tehsildar of Nighasan, said, “58 families from Jas Nagar village were shifted to a government primary school by boat, and also provided packed food and other essentials in flooded areas. The administration set up 7 flood relief camps and deployed 7 boats, with the help of SDRF jawans, for evacuation.”
