Prayagraj: Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya on Tuesday said time has come to fulfill VHP leader Ashok Singhal’s pledges regarding Mathura and Kashi .

After completing his engineering studies in metallurgy, Singhal began his life as a “pracharak’ in 1950, serving in Saharanpur and Delhi. He dedicated himself to the VHP from 1982 to 2015.

We are confident that truth and justice will prevail although there has been a delay, the moment is fast approaching when truth and justice will triumph, and the Hindu community will witness magnificent temples in Mathura and Kashi,” he said. Maurya said Singhal was born to carry out a divine mission. “Ashok Singhal deserves credit for numerous initiatives aimed at uniting the vast Hindu society,” he said.

“Singhal had taken three pledges — Ayodhya , Mathura and Kashi. With Ayodhya done, time has come for the pledges regarding Mathura and Kashi to be fulfilled. The global Hindu community desires to see Mathura and Kashi transformed just as Shri Ram Janmabhoomi was. He gained worldwide fame through the Ram Janmabhoomi movement — a divine task that God accomplished through him. Champat Rai, central vice president of VHP and chief speaker highlighted that Prayagraj was Ashok Singhal’s Karmabhumi and the ‘Mahavir Bhavan’ was his home. He organised two massive gatherings of Hindu society at India Gate, events so significant that public meetings at the site were subsequently banned. Through his efforts, the ‘Dharma Sansad’ was organised. He also spearheaded a campaign to address the social issue of untouchability, uniting saints in the process. His life was defined by multifaceted qualities, addressing challenges ranging from religious conversion and social harmony to the crisis during the era of terrorism in Punjab. He had the foundation stone-laying ceremony at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi site performed by a member of the scheduled castes and also organised numerous Buddhist conferences. He was a multifaceted personality; the conferences he organised for the Vedas and the work he undertook for the protection of the gau mata were significant.

The matter is currently before the courts. He was speaking during the concluding day ceremony marking the birth centenary year celebration of Ashok Singhal, organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (Kashi Prant) at AMA Convention Center on Tuesday evening.

Mahant Yamuna Puri, general secretary of Mahanirvani Akhada recalled how, inspired by Ashok Ji’s call and leadership in 1992, he had joined the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement and never returned home. Stay updated with the latest Prayagraj news.

“We must all strive to instill the values of Gau, Ganga, and Gayatri — as well as the essence of Indian culture, family values, religion, and heritage — in future generations,” Rai said. “His contributions to Hindu society and culture across the globe can never be forgotten as he was an immortal figure whose future births would also be dedicated to the cause of dharma,” he said.
