Farmers whose land was acquired for the Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar housing schemes by the Lucknow Development Authority reported on Thursday that the compensation process was both transparent and timely. Many beneficiaries indicated that they have chosen to invest the compensation funds in long-term security measures rather than spending them on immediate purchases, reflecting a strategic approach to financial stability following the acquisition.
Residents Share Experiences of Land Acquisition Compensation
Rewari village resident Ramdei praised the state government and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for providing what she termed a “good compensation.” She noted that the financial support allowed her family to make future plans.
Kamlesh Kumar from Dona village reported that he voluntarily sold one hectare of land to the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) for the Varun Vihar scheme, receiving Rs 2.80 crore in return. He invested this amount in purchasing land in Unnao district and building a house, highlighting the project’s role in fostering development in his area.
Sushma Singh from Bakshi Ka Talab mentioned that her land in Kamalabad was acquired for the Naimish Nagar scheme, for which she received Rs 2.90 crore as compensation.
Namra Fatima, a recent Class 12 graduate preparing for the NEET exam, shared that her family’s land in Saidapur village was taken for the Naimish Nagar project. They received Rs 70.58 lakh, which she stated was processed “without any difficulty.” This compensation has enabled her family to purchase new land while also saving for her medical education. Fatima emphasized that the scheme would create more job opportunities and improve housing in the region.
Smooth Transaction for Land Acquisition in Bakshi Ka Talab
Om Prakash Awasthi, a resident of Bakshi Ka Talab, reported a successful land acquisition process involving the sale of over 1.5 bighas for Naimish Nagar. He received Rs 1.96 crore for the transaction, noting the efficiency of the process. Awasthi mentioned that he did not face the usual bureaucratic hurdles, as he was contacted for registration approximately 15 days after submitting a consent letter. The payment was made via demand draft and credited to his bank account the following day. Following this sale, Awasthi purchased 16 bighas on Biswan Road in Sitapur, depositing the remaining funds into his bank account.
