Pilibhit: A 20-year-old BA Part II student was allegedly shot dead by her father at their home in Rampura Naugwan under Bisalpur Kotwali police station limits on Friday evening after she objected to his drinking habit, police said. As per the complaint filed by the deceased’s mother, Shweta Gangwar, her husband, Ajay Pal Gangwar, 49, a farmer by profession, returned home in an inebriated state and got into a minor argument with their daughter, Anshika. Bisalpur Kotwali police station SHO Sanjiv Kumar Shukla said, “Police filed an FIR under BNS section 103(1) ( murder ) late Friday night, and the relevant section of the Arms Act was consequently added. He said that a country-made .315-bore pistol used in the murder was seized from his possession.

The accused was arrested on Saturday evening. Pilibhit SP Sukirti Madhav said the arrested accused would be produced before the remand magistrate on Sunday.

Criminal History of Ajay Pal Revealed Amid Ongoing Investigation

Ajay Pal, a suspect in an ongoing investigation, has a notable criminal history that includes two murder cases from 2012 and 2025, as well as a case under the Arms Act. According to SHO Shukla, Ajay Pal was acquitted in the 2012 murder case and the Arms Act charge. In the more recent murder case from last year, he was granted bail on February 25 of this year.
