Govt approves Rs 329cr budget for widening state highway

Lucknow: Clearing the revised budget earmarked for the widening and strengthening of a key road corridor, the state govt increased the financial sanction for upgrading a section of the Agra-Kanpur highway to facilitate increased traffic movement.

The cabinet, on Friday, approved a revised outlay of Rs 329 crore for the widening of the Shikohabad-Bhogaon state highway and the construction of the Ghiror bypass road.

With the addition of the bypass, the length of the upgraded corridor will increase from 31.3 km to 37.86 km. The existing road in Mainpuri district will be widened into a four-lane state highway. The corridor connects an important national highway and facilitates traffic movement towards Kanpur. Motorists from Agra, Aligarh, Hathras and other districts in the region are expected to benefit from the project.
