Haridwar : The reconstruction and beautification of Sati Kund, a sacred Hindu site in Haridwar associated with Goddess Sati, is expected to be completed on schedule ahead of Ardh Kumbh 2027, senior officials said. The project, estimated to cost Rs 50 crore, includes five years of operation and maintenance. He also expressed doubts over the project meeting its 15-month deadline, given that work began on June 24, 2026. Expressing confidence in the executing agency, National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC), Sundaram said the project was expected to be completed by February-March 2027.
Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB) managing director and principal secretary (planning) Meenakshi Sundaram said, “Three parties — the Municipal Corporation, Niranjani Akhara and Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA) — had claims over the land. The assurance comes amid concerns over the pace of construction and questions about ownership of the land. Senior BJP leader Ashok Tripathi claimed the site was privately owned and questioned the use of public funds for its redevelopment. However, no ownership dispute was pending in any court,” adding that all three had issued no-objection certificates for the construction of Sati Ghat. He also dismissed allegations of inflated project estimates.
