Lucknow: The traffic police and Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) have engaged experts from the civil engineering department of IIT-BHU to carry out a scientific assessment of traffic movement and proposed junction designs on the city’s Green Corridor, focusing on present congestion trends and projected future demand.

“LDA had assigned IIT-BHU, Varanasi, a traffic study and simulation exercise following recommendations from the traffic police to have the proposed layouts of major junctions and connecting points scientifically evaluated,” Tyagi said. Officials said the study will merge traffic police inputs from field experience with IIT-BHU’s technical analysis. The inspection also covered the Old Pakka Pul area, including the proposed movement from Daliganj across the bridge towards Kudiya Ghat. Data on traffic volume, turning movements, directional flows and road capacity will be entered into computer-based traffic simulation models to test alternative junction configurations and evaluate their likely effects. “The exercise is expected to examine not just individual junctions but also how turns, entry and exit points and connecting roads function together. This could help authorities identify potential bottlenecks before finalising the corridor’s traffic arrangements,” the DCP added. Download the TOI App.
An expert team held discussions with DCP Traffic Raveena Tyagi and the additional DCP Traffic on Monday, after which they jointly inspected key stretches of the corridor.
