Lucknow: Rapidly advancing as a prime industrial and power generation hub, Sonbhadra has moved closer to its investment target for the upcoming Ground Breaking Ceremony (GBC) 5.0, having signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for 33 projects valued at Rs 14,612 crore, an official spokesperson said on Monday. The agreements account for nearly three-quarters of the Rs 20,000 crore investment target assigned to the district by the state govt following the Global Investors Summit. District magistrate Charchit Gaur said Adani Group will set up a Pumped Storage Power (PSP) plant in Panaura with an investment of Rs 7,400 crore, significantly expanding the region’s energy-storage capacity. In another major capital commitment, Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC) has finalised an MoU to establish a major project at Basudhari, entailing an outlay of approximately Rs 6,400 crore.
The projects are projected to generate widespread direct and indirect employment, while offering substantial business opportunities for local transport contractors, construction firms, service providers and youth-led micro-enterprises.
