Implemented under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM): The wider industry impact

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Bahraich : Rural women in Bahraich district along the Nepal border will soon get new employment opportunities under the Namo Drone Didi Scheme, aimed at empowering women associated with self-help groups through drone technology and training.

Dhananjay Singh, deputy commissioner (self-employment), told TOI that the selection process is currently underway. He said the initiative would empower rural women, expand access to modern agricultural technology and create opportunities for them to become self-reliant. Under the scheme, selected women will be provided drones and trained to spray pesticides on farmers’ fields. The initiative is expected to promote modern agricultural practices while creating new income opportunities for self-help group members. Implemented under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), the scheme seeks to train rural women in drone operations and link them with agricultural services, helping them become financially independent. The use of drones will enable faster pesticide spraying, reducing time and labour costs for farmers while encouraging the adoption of modern technology in agriculture. After the selection process is completed, drones will be distributed to the selected women, who will provide services to farmers and earn income through these activities.
