Jhansi : Nine people, including five children of two to 12 years age, were injured after a speeding car hit them near a temple in Mathurapura village under Babina police station area on Tuesday afternoon.
The driver, Ankit Rajput, 22, was taken into custody and the vehicle was seized. Suddenly a speeding car lost its control and hit hit the people standing near the temple. The incident took place in the evening where people had gathered for a religious function near the temple, according to police. Circle officer Sadar/assistant superintendent of police Simran Singh said the injured were taken to the Jhansi Medical College for treatment. The driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, according to sources. Police, however, said further action would be taken on the basis of the investigation. Police said the situation remained peaceful and law and order was under control.
