Kanpur: A 24-year-old man and his 22-year-old cousin were allegedly found hanging from a tree in a mango orchard in Unnao’s Dhamani Kheda village under Bihar police station area on Sunday.
Villagers passing through the orchard spotted the bodies around 2 pm and alerted the police. The families said that the two had left their homes around 10 am on Sunday.
The two were allegedly in a relationship, according to police. The woman had married in November last year and was currently staying at her parental home, police said. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, police said.
Police reached the spot, brought down the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. After the woman failed to return, her family lodged a complaint at Purwa police station.
Station house officer Rahul Singh said police had questioned family members and villagers, and further investigation into the case was underway.
