The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Kanpur: A 45-year-old man died during treatment on Sunday after he was shot in the jaw allegedly over a land sale dispute in Thakurainkheda village under Sohramau police station in Unnao.

In his statement to police, Aman said his father had agreed three years ago to sell about 13 biswa of land for Rs 6 lakh to his relative Nagendra, a resident of Marui village under Mohanlalganj police station. The deceased, Kanhaiya Lal was shot around midnight on Saturday by two people who arrived on a two-wheeler and fled, his son Aman said, according to police.

They had earlier visited the family’s home and issued threats, he said. Aman alleged that Nagendra, his brother Bhupendra alias Monu, Sushil alias Sannam and Nagendra’s father Hari Prasad bore a grudge over the matter.

Sohramau SHO Arvind Pandey said an FIR had initially been registered against Nagendra, Bhupendra and Sushil under attempt-to-murder provisions on Aman’s complaint. Further investigation is underway.
