Kanpur: Juna Akhada Mahamandaleshwar Manoj Kumar Singh, known as Golden Giri Baba, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) following a threatening phone call. An unidentified caller demanded 10% of the gold Singh was wearing, warning that failure to comply would result in death threats against him or a family member. The incident raises concerns about safety and extortion in the region.
Singh, a resident of Kakadev in Kanpur’s Rawatpur police station area, told police he received the call around 1.29pm on Sept 15. The caller allegedly did not disclose his identity, used abusive language and demanded 10% of the gold Singh was wearing.
Singh told police that he had preserved the call history, a screenshot and other evidence linked to the mobile number. Rawatpur station in charge Kamlesh Rai said police were conducting a technical examination of the mobile number to trace the accused. He sought identification and arrest of the caller, besides protection for his family.
Singh said the threat had left his family frightened. When Singh refused, the caller allegedly threatened to kill him and cause serious harm to one of his family members.
