Kanpur: Police arrested one Mohan Yadav for allegedly killing his mother with an axe after she refused to give him Rs 60 to buy ganja at Mahoba’s Rawatpurakhurd village in Kotwali Kulpahar on Wednesday evening.
Mohan demanded money from his mother, Moolah Devi (51), to buy ganja.
When she refused, he allegedly attacked her repeatedly with an axe kept in the house, killing her on the spot, and then remained seated at the door, said police. Sohan told the police that his younger brother was drug-addicted and frequently demanded money from their mother, leading to fights. Kulpahar circle officer Anuruddh Kumar said police had received information that a woman was killed by her son with a sharp-edged weapon.
Kotwali in-charge Avadhesh Kumar Mishra inspected the scene.
When the woman’s elder son, Sohan, returned home, he found the blood-soaked body of his mother lying at home and informed police. Police, along with a forensic team, arrived at the site and initiated an investigation.
