IIT Kanpur workshop calls for indigenous railway vehicle design, stronger reliability engineering and shared testing infrastructure
Kanpur: The Centre for Railway Research (CRR), Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, organised a one-day Workshop on Bogie and Rolling Stock Design recently at the Outreach Auditorium, IIT Kanpur. Bringing together senior Indian Railways officials, railway industry leaders, international researchers, and technology providers, the workshop deliberated on building national capability for the indigenous design, simulation, development, testing, and life-cycle improvement of railway rolling stock and bogies. The workshop was an important step toward establishing a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Rolling Stock and Bogie Design at CRR, IIT Kanpur. The proposed CoE is envisaged as a shared resource for Indian Railways, RDSO, railway production units, and industry, including firms that cannot independently establish advanced design and testing facilities.
