Kanpur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said that rain accompanied by thunderstorm is likely to lash Kanpur division over the next 24 hours.
The sky is expected to remain partly cloudy during the morning, with no rain warning during those hours, according to the IMD and other major weather platforms. However, weather expert SN Sunil Pandey said the possibility of rain in Kanpur on Friday morning is extremely low.
Severe Weather Forecast for Kanpur Region
The weather department has issued a forecast indicating that Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao, Etawah, Auraiya, and Farrukhabad are likely to experience rain and thunderstorms. The monsoon remains active, and a heavy rain alert has been declared for certain areas.
Cloudy conditions are expected to persist in Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat, with the possibility of heavy rain or intense showers occurring intermittently over the next 24 hours. Kanpur Nagar has already recorded 110.6 mm of rainfall in the past 48 hours, resulting in saturated ground conditions and ongoing waterlogging in various city areas, which is causing difficulties for residents.
Earlier on Thursday, sunny weather briefly appeared, leading to humid conditions. However, moderate to heavy rainfall commenced around noon and continued until approximately 1 PM, providing temporary relief from the humidity. The maximum temperature reached 32.4°C, about two degrees higher than Wednesday, while the minimum temperature increased to 25.4°C.
