Varanasi: Kashi is gearing up for a spectacular IAF air show, with the city bracing for a massive turnout of nearly 30 lakh people and police commissioner Mohit Agarwal directing officials to draw up a detailed crowd management plan for the event.
Agarwal said all arrangements must be reviewed again before the event. Agarwal also instructed officials to maintain continuous surveillance through CCTV cameras, drones and other technical resources. Additional police force will be deployed at sensitive locations, while security arrangements across the ghats will be strengthened. In view of the possibility of heavy crowding, he asked officials to organise emergency routes, quick-response systems, queue management arrangements and emergency exits. He also directed officials to prepare a safe and swift evacuation plan for any emergency situation. He also directed officials to conduct mock drills to identify and address shortcomings within the stipulated time and stressed close coordination between police and other departments for the smooth conduct of the air show.
