Lucknow: A 20-year-old Class X student drowned in the Sharda Sahayak feeder canal near Indira dam, with his body being found three days later near Ismailnagar village in the Nagaram area on Monday morning.

Mohit had gone to Indira dam with a group of friends at around 11 am on Saturday, according to his family. His friends informed the family, following which the matter was reported to the BBD police. Mohit’s maternal grandfather, Ram Lagan, said the youth was a Class X student. Lakshmi Prasad earns a livelihood by selling pickles, according to relatives. Police said further proceedings would be carried out following the post-mortem examination.

The deceased was identified as Mohit Kashyap, a resident of Nandpur village along Satrikh road. The group reportedly travelled to the spot in an e-rickshaw. During the visit, Mohit entered the Sharda Sahayak feeder canal to bathe. However, he went into the water and did not resurface. The police called in a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to search for the missing youth. Despite extensive search operations, rescuers were unable to find him. His death has left the family devastated. Mohit was one of four siblings and was the eldest son. He is survived by his sister Mohini and younger brothers Rohit and Mayank. Body of Missing Person Found in Canal

After three days of searching, Mohit’s family discovered his body in the canal near Ismailnagar village in the Nagaram area. The search, initiated following an unsuccessful operation, intensified as family members continued to look for him.

At approximately 4 a.m. on Monday, Mohit’s father, Lakshmi Prasad, along with relatives, found the young man’s body floating in the water. They were able to identify Mohit by the clothing he was wearing.

Authorities were notified, and Nagaram police arrived at the scene, taking custody of the body for a post-mortem examination.
