Lucknow: Authorities have suspended two policemen and transferred a Station House Officer (SHO) after cattle remains were found in a village in Sant Kabir Nagar district. The incident has raised concerns regarding animal welfare and law enforcement’s response in the region.
Govt and senior police officers had repeatedly issued directions regarding crime prevention, monitoring of criminals, effective beat policing and prevention of sensitive incidents, according to the suspension order. District police chief Sandeep Kumar Meena suspended Lohariya outpost incharge Veer Bahadur Yadav and beat constable Praveen Kumar , holding them responsible for negligence, indifference and dereliction of duty. Departmental proceedings have also been initiated against both personnel. Police registered an FIR against three persons in connection with the case and reviewed the role of local police personnel following the incident. The occurrence of such an incident despite these instructions indicated lapses in duty, the order stated. Dhanghata SHO Dilip Kumar Singh was removed from his post and posted as incharge of the Cyber Police Station. Surveillance cell in-charge Ajay Kumar Singh has been appointed the new SHO of Dhanghata, while Mukesh Kumar Gupta, posted in the Police Lines, has been made in-charge of Lohariya outpost.
The action came after cattle remains were recovered from Khajur Tikra village in Dhanghata on Thursday.
