Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that those who opposed Ram Temple movement are desperate to tarnish the image of Ayodhya .
On cow protection , he highlighted measures taken by his govt, including the closure of illegal slaughterhouses and the establishment of more than 7,700 cow shelters across Uttar Pradesh, showing UP govt has been taking steps to restore the values of our society. He said over 16 lakh cattle were being protected through shelters as regular financial assistance was being provided to the caretakers and organisations involved with housing the stray cattle.
They are trying to weaken the larger cultural movement associated with Ayodhya,” Yogi said, addressing a programme on the birth centenary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader late Ashok Singhal. Yogi said opponents of Ram Temple would never be able to support the movement as they continue to look for opportunities to discredit Ayodhya and its residents. Referring to the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, he said several political parties attempted to obstruct the temple campaign through false narratives. He said attempts could be made to infiltrate and tarnish organisations associated with the temple cause in the coming months. Yogi said cow protection should not remain confined to speeches or protests, but should instead become a part of daily conduct in society.
“Congress and Samajwadi Party have been unable to accept the progress and development that the city of Ram has gone through over the past few years. He claimed that many individuals and groups that once opposed the temple were now trying to project themselves as devotees of Ram Lalla. He termed the construction of Ram Temple an ideological victory and urged workers of VHP and Bajrang Dal to remain vigilant against forces seeking to undermine the movement. He also called for greater participation in cattle rearing and conservation of indigenous breeds.
