Lucknow: Police on Wednesday arrested five men for hatching a murder conspiracy and opening fire on a youth outside a farmhouse in Bakshi Ka Talab area on Nov 1.
The arrested men have been identified as Uttam Singh (25), the main mastermind, and his aides Shubham Rajput (20), Shivam Rajput (19), Shivam Pal (23) and Ajay Yadav (22). Acting on a tip-off, police raided a plot near Mamupur Bana underpass on Nov 4 and arrested all five accused. Police subsequently invoked criminal conspiracy charges and added provisions of the Arms Act following the recovery of two .315-bore country-made pistols, a 12-bore country-made firearm, seven cartridges and two spent or misfired rounds.
An FIR was registered at BKT police station and investigators began tracking the suspects.
During interrogation, police found that the attack was linked to a dispute dating back to Oct last year when Anil and Uttam Singh were involved in a confrontation.
DCP North Zone, Amit Kumar Anand, said that the attack took place on the night of Nov 1 when the victim Anil was leaving a farmhouse on Asti Road. As he attempted to take out his motorcycle, a man approached him seeking water while two others emerged from bushes armed with country-made pistols and engaged in a physical confrontation with the victim.
