Lucknow’s social welfare department is set to broaden the implementation of artificial intelligence across its welfare delivery systems. This initiative follows the recent introduction of AI-enabled tools in the education sector, as confirmed by officials. The aim is to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in delivering social services.
In the education segment, AI-based technologies have been introduced at Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas.
An officer from the department said AI will be deployed in key schemes including pensions, the National Family Benefit Scheme and scholarships to speed up processing and simplify procedures. Minister of state for social welfare (independent charge) Asim Arun said the objective is to ensure benefits reach eligible individuals on time, adding that AI will support efficiency in monitoring, data analysis and verification, along with AI and curriculum-based training for students in govt hostels. The move is aimed at improving verification, monitoring and decision-making through faster analysis of documents and application data. Students are being taught using smart classrooms, digital content modules, 3D videos and AI-powered language learning laboratories. Teachers and students are also receiving training in digital creativity and AI skills, including digital storytelling, creative problem-solving and AI-assisted content creation. The department is planning AI-based certificate verification for Old Age Pension and National Family Benefit Scheme applicants to strengthen scrutiny and ensure timely release of benefits. AI tools will also be used to analyse scholarship applications and disbursement trends for closer tracking.
