SP party president Akhilesh Yadav
Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday targeted chief minister Yogi Adityanath for what he described as “threatening admission that persecution of PDA will continue under BJP govt”. “This means that BJP govt’s oppression and injustice against the victimised, distressed and insulted sections, as well as the backward classes, Dalits, minorities, women and tribals, will only intensify,” he said. To buttress his charge, Akhilesh posted a five-second video clip in which the chief minister could be heard addressing a gathering where he says: “Aur PDA ka kya haal hone wala hai … ye apke samne phir aane wala hai … (All of you will again bear witness to what is going to happen to the PDA again). Referring to another video clip that Akhilesh posted on X, the SP chief said even the BJP cadres and traditional supporters were no longer happy with the party.
Akhilesh said the truth is that the setback in the 2024 elections has unsettled them, which is why such lopsided statements are being made.
“This threatening confession will leave BJP leaders who have persecuted PDA communities unable to look the masses in the eye, not just for the next 50 years but for generations to come,” Akhilesh said in a statement posted on X. “If the PDA is weighing so heavily on his (CM’s) mind that he sees and thinks of it when he is awake and even in his sleep, then I would suggest that he should get PDA inscribed on all 108 beads (of a rosary) and recite it regularly so that some of his sins are reduced,” Akhilesh said.
