The Mission, the minister said, will promote breeds such as Sahiwal, indigenous and Haryanvi. Singh said that entrepreneurship will be promoted through five sub-missions, including livestock entrepreneurship and start-up development, livestock and poultry breed development, innovation and digital livestock, fodder and feed development, and research, globalisation and knowledge systems development. Training will also be used to develop the skills of livestock farmers,” he said.

“UP has the largest livestock population in the country and ranks first in milk production. Rearing of goats, sheep and pigs, and poultry farming are also being encouraged. “Through these, livestock start-ups, fodder production, value addition, producer organisations and supply chains will be strengthened. Emphasis will be placed on using AI, digital traceability and climate-resilient technologies to improve the quality of livestock products and their market reach. The minister added that this would be an entirely state-funded scheme. With the approval of the screening committee process and Project Approval Committee, subsidy for selected projects will go directly into beneficiaries’ accounts. The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model will also be encouraged for infrastructure creation and services. Download the TOI App.
